Activating Lounge Access With The Chase Sapphire Reserve

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card (CSR) is the new heavy hitter card in the points and miles world. I’ve gone over some of the benefits of the CSR in a previous blog post here. One of the major perks  of the card is a Priority Pass membership, which allows you and your companions to access over 900 lounges in their network.

Chase Sapphire Reserve allows you to access 900+ lounges in the Priority Pass network!

Largest network of airport lounges

The confusing part of the priority pass membership is that it’s not automatic just because you have the CSR. You actually have to activate your membership and I’ll explain how to do it.

First, you will have to log-in to your Chase online banking account. Chase recently re-designed their website, so accessing the Benefits page might be a bit different depending on which version you have.

First, scroll down to your Sapphire Reserve card, and select “Go to Ultimate Rewards.”

On your Ultimate Rewards page, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and select “Card Benefits.”

Finally, select “Activate now” under “Airport Lounge Access.”

Once you click on it, you should get a green check mark. You can then expect your card to arrive  within 2 – 3 weeks. The card comes with a pin but the pin is only used for online and priority pass app enrollment so don’t toss it.

You get a shortcut if you have the new version of Chase’s website. Simply select your Sapphire Reserve card on the left. Under “Things you can do,” click “Card benefits” to be taken directly to the sign-up page and voila!

Who Can Get Into Priority Pass Lounges?

You’re in luck because the CSR has the most comprehensive Priority Pass membership called Priority Pass Select. I have other premium cards like the American Express Platinum and Citi Prestige which both come with a Priority Pass membership but guests are charged at $27 each.

The Priority Pass Select membership with your CSR card comes with unlimited guest access as long as they are traveling with you. It’s the best version for families. Keep in mind, many lounges are operated independently so they may have a restriction on how many people you can bring inside the lounge with you but usually you shouldn’t have a problem bringing your family and friends.

Conclusion

The Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with the most comprehensive version of the Priority Pass membership as a perk of the card. There are priority pass lounges all over the world and although they all differ in quality, it’s always nice to have a place of refuge at the airport before or after your flight.
