Amex’s Platinum House – Art Basel Miami

Each year Miami hosts over 250 of the world’s leading art galleries which brings out a large global crowd for a jam-packed weekend filled with artwork, cultural events and fun. I was on the fence about attending this year when I received a text from a friend that American Express was hosting a private event at the The Miami Beach EDITION hotel.

The event titled “Platinum House” is a beachside oasis complete with complimentary food & beverage offerings, music performances, beauty services and more. And here’s the kicker: Only American Express Platinum cardholders and Centurion® members.

Beyond the essential Amex Platinum benefits such as $200 airline fee credit, $200 in Uber credits, 5x points on airlines and hotels, elite status with Marriott, SPG and Hilton and my personal favorite, Amex Centurion Lounge access, the card comes with cool features like access to a private Art Basel VIP event at the iconic Miami Beach Edition. The perks of the American Express Platinum card more than make up for the hefty $450 annual fee.

Without further ado, some shots from the Platinum House over Art Basel weekend (lobster grilled cheese not pictured).

Check-in at Platinum House

Nice evening on Miami Beach

Live DJ on the stage where Drake performed over the weekend

Complimentary hairstyling, manicure and make-up

The awesome Aura photography booth that we didn’t get to check out….lines too long.

Drinks on the ocean

Grey Goose and Soda

Special drink curated for Platinum House

Quick words: Premium credit cards come with hefty fees but the benefits and added perks totally outweigh the cost. If I don’t attend Art Basel next year, I’ll surely be on the lookout for another private VIP event during Art Basel for Amex Platinum cardholders. At minimum, I’ll attend for the lobster grilled cheese again.

I devoured it because they were running out of them. A picture may have slowed up my digestion. =)
