Double Duty Daddy

Back and Better (No Pun Intended)

Happy New Year! I trust each and every one of you had a wonderful holiday break with your loved ones. I made a decision a few weeks ago to try to enjoy this time off and not blog much (or at all), in order to soak in the “moments” with family. I was lucky enough to spend 17 straight days with my daughters, G&O, and witness first-hand their maturation progress which involves an evolution of speech (they now form well-understood phrases in both Spanish and English) which never seizes to amaze me. It’s a thing of beauty.

Though I declared not to write, I kept finding inspiration in all sorts of places that sparked new topic ideas (which I plan to share with my readers in 2016) for Double Duty Daddy.

Unfortunately, my vacation got off to a rocky start. On the 1st day of being off from work, I blew my back out while simply extending my hand to feed the girls’ some yogurt. The doctor said ‘it was the straw that broke the camel’s back’ stemming from years of heavy lifting and bad posture and then one sudden movement is all it took.

The crippling back spasms and nerve pinching took me straight to a chiropractor’s office where they took x-rays and confirmed I had an aggravated disc in my back. After icing my back 4x a day, massages and lying flat on hard surface, I started to feel like myself again about 5 days later and was able to enjoy Christmas and our trip to Disney with the girls. Kudos to DD Mommy for doing most of the heavy lifting at home while I was uncomfortable and unable to pull my weight with G&O.

I’m looking forward to a travel-filled 2016 with lots of G&O milestones.

What are you looking forward to in 2016?
