Double Duty Daddy

Couple Goes Child-Free Every Weekend

Being a parent is exhausting and rewarding all at the same time. Some parents rarely get the opportunity to take a break from their children and enjoy grown-up things. Those that have the luxury of taking a quick timeout from the little ones usually do so by taking a few hours for date night or a quick weekend getaway to recharge the batteries.

But for Australian model and TV host Rachael Finch and her husband Michael “Mish” Miziner, date night comes much more often than many of us – EVERY. SINGLE. WEEKEND.

“Every weekend (Violet) goes to Mish’s mum’s house, and we get our weekend to ourselves,” Finch said. “I think that’s incredibly healthy for a relationship. And on Sunday, when we pick her up, we have 100 percent energy back.”

Apparently Every Weekend For This Couple

Well, the parents of the 2 year-old Violet received some not so nice feedback on social media but others have been quick to defend them. Personally, I leave G&O for a day and the guilt feeling is ‘OH SO REAL’ but I know it’s healthy for both myself and them. Surely having a balance is supremely important to avoid burnout but weekends for 9-5 folks like myself are priceless and I look forward to spending every second I can with my daughters.

What are your thoughts on these parents and their choice to spend weekends child-free? Do you think this is lazy parenting or are they in the right in seeking a healthy balance by being child-free every weekend?
