Reminiscing About Sleep


In the spirit of #TBT and the fact that my mom brought it up today, the sleeping portion at night of G&O in the first 18 months of their lives was a whirlwind. We’d wake up every night, a few times a night even and try to soothe them back to sleep. I’m sure many, if not all parents go through this in the early stages of a babies infancy/toddler stage. Multiply that by two and you got a chorus of high-pitched screams in the wee hours of the morning that would make even Mariah Carey jealous. I don’t miss those days. I don’t miss them at all. If I had to put a number on it conservatively, I’d say we woke up approximately 4 times a night about 4 days a week so that’s 16 times a week. Multiply that by weeks in a month, months in a year and you got yourself 192 nights of broken sleep in ONE YEAR. Talk about sleep deprivation. #Twins




What the hell is my point? Well, the older they get, the more they understand bed time and what’s expected of them…….TO ACTUALLY SLEEP! I look back at it now and don’t think “wow, how time flew by”, nope. I thank my lucky stars and feel great about sleeping normal again, 7-8 hours strong with limited interruption from G&O. With our sanity almost completely back, now it’s all about the evolution of their growth and watching them become¬†little tiny women who have their own babbling language, fight like cats & dogs then hug like soulmates and now, SLEEP. And sleeping is the first stage in gaining your sanity back so hang in there young parents.
